There's something very attractive about agar agar or also known as katen in Japan – according to an article published in a Japanese magazine, consuming agar agar with your favorite tea 10 minutes before your meal can promote weight loss. Apparently, agar agar's high fiber content helps maintain a feeling of fullness and therefore reduce overeating. And, interestingly, agar agar has zero calories.

Today, I'm sharing with you a refreshing agar jello dessert recipe that's not too heavy and great for family get-togethers,especially on hot summer months.

Agar Jelly Caramel Recipe

How to make agar jelly caramel

To make caramel, place 1 cup granulated sugar and 8 tablespoons in a heavy saucepan.

Cook over very gentle heat and stir constantly, making sure the sugar is dissolved and then increase the heat to medium till the solution turn deep golden in color and starts to boil.

In another saucepan, combine agar agar with remaining water and boil until agar agar dissolved.

Add sugar and continue boiling until agar agar is completely dissolved.
