Homemade Foot Scrub Recipes

By Tiffany Moore

It's time to put those woolly socks back in the drawer and bring out your funky flip-flops as summer is finally here! But are you ashamed of your dry scaly feet, thick calluses and cracked heels? These DIY all natural foot scrubs are sure to make you sashay with confidence and silky smooth feet!

Just like your facial and body skin, the skin of your feet also needs to be exfoliated to make way for new skin cells. You can find various types of foot scrubs in the store, but did you know that you can make foot scrubs at home for pennies?

Home made natural foot scrubs are as good as store bought ones and they are shockingly simple to make.

The best part of making your own foot scrubs is that they contain no parabens, no mineral oil and no synthetic dyes. Absolutely safe and perfect for at-home pedicures or spa nights with the girls!

Homemade Foot Pedicure Scrub Recipes

Natural Lemony Mint Foot Scrub

Lemon softens and brightens your dull-looking feet while mint cools and refreshes tired feet.

1 lemon

2 tablespoons sugar

1 tablespoon sweet almond oil

15 fresh mint leaves, chopped

2-3 drops lemon essential oil

Slice the lemon into small pieces. Place them in a blender and form a pulp. Remove and then add sugar, almond oil, mint leaves and lemon essential oil.

Home Made Zesty Ginger Sugar Foot Scrub

I love this foot scrub on my legs – it has the fresh, invigorating scents of both ginger and orange essential oils. Great for exfoliating and rejuvenating rough, flaky skin on your feet.

¼ cup sugar (white or brown sugar. I prefer brown because it smells heavenly!)

¼ cup sweet almond oil

6 drops orange essential oil

1 drop ginger essential oil

1 teaspoon powdered cayenne pepper

Place sugar and almond oil in a bowl; mix well. Add orange oil and ginger oil; mix all ingredients together. Finally, stir in cayenne pepper.

DIY Soothing Peppermint Sweet Almond Foot Scrub

Sweet almond oil offers essential fatty acids that help repair dry skin while sea salt soothes, refines and stimulates skin cell renewal.

1½ cups sea salt

¼ cup sweet almond oil

2 drops peppermint essential oil

3 drops lavender essential oil

Put sea salt and almond oil in a bowl; mix well until it holds well. If the mixture looks dry, add almond oil, bit by bit, until you get the desired consistency. Add peppermint oil and lavender oil. Combine all ingredients together.

Homemade Healing Aloe Vera Honey Leg Scrub

Aloe vera gel is a well known remedy that helps speed up healing for severely cracked or dry heels. Oatmeal is hypoallergenic, and helps to soften as well as relieving the itchy sensation that dry skin can cause. Honey provides anti-aging Vitamins C and E, which nourish dry scaly skin and make them feel really smooth.

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons ground oatmeal

2 tablespoons  aloe vera gel

1 tablespoon honey

1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 teaspoon olive oil

Grind the oatmeal in a food processor until you get a sandy consistency. Place ground oats and remaining ingredients in a bowl. Mix everything well, until the mixture looks like a paste.

To use, wet your feet, including ankles and calf. Then massage them with a handful of your DIY natural foot scrub, using circular movements. Rinse off completely with warm water. Towel dry and finally apply a rich lotion on your feet to lock in moisture.

Wouldn't these homemade foot scrubs also make a great gift for someone you love?
