By making your own laundry detergent, you save money and have total control over what goes into it. That means no harsh chemicals, and no perfumes. The other best thing about homemade laundry detergent is that it’s also babysafe, and therefore, highly recommended for people with sensitive skin issues such as eczema, rashes, or allergies.

This quick and easy powder laundry detergent recipe requires only 4 ingredients, and takes merely 5 minutes to make.


Easy Homemade Laundry Powder Recipe


½ bar Fels Naptha soap (or you use other soaps such as Dove, Ivory or ZOTE)

1 cup borax

1 cup washing soda

1 cup baking soda



How to make homemade detergent at home:


1. Grate soap in a food processor, or use a simple hand grater.


2. Add borax, washing soda, and baking soda. Process until mixed.


Use 1 tablespoon of laundry detergent per full load of laundry. Or, 2-3 tablespoons for heavily soiled loads. You’ll be amazed at how little detergent you need to get your clothes clean, and it's really cheap.
