Nail polish and nicotine often leave yellow stains on nails, making your hands look
unattractive. Here's how to whiten yellow nails at home with home remedies, using
a few readily available and inexpensive items.
How to Make Yellow Nails White
1. Lemons are good for whitening and brightening yellow nails. It acts as a natural
astringent and helps in removing stains.
Slice open a lemon, and squeeze the juice into a bowl of water. Soak your yellow
nails in the water for several minutes.
Repeat this nail whitening treatment as often as necessary. Wash and rinse your hands
after that, and apply hand lotion or cream to replenish moisture.
2. Another way to whiten yellow nails is to scrub your nails with a whitening toothpaste
such as Pearl Drops. By doing so, it helps to remove yellow stains and shine up your
3. Denture tablets can also whiten and brighten yellow nails. Just follow the instructions
for dissolving denture tablets in water, and then soak your nails in them for several
minutes. Repeat this nail whitening treatment until your nails are lighter and brighter

with 2½ tablespoons of baking soda in a small bowl to form a paste.
With a cotton swab, press the paste under the tip and on top of each nail. Leave

1 tablespoon of baking powder. Apply a tiny dot of this homemade paste onto the center

Gently buff your nails with a buff but be careful not to overdo. Then wash your hands
and pat them dry.
Massage a rich hand cream onto your nails. When your nails are completely dry, you
may wish to apply two coats of nail polish to make them pretty.
Whatever home remedies you choose to use to whiten yellow nails, keep this in mind
– nail polish is the most common culprit when it comes to yellow nails.
Always use a clear base polish before polishing your nails. A clear base polish adds
a layer of protection between nails and colored polish. By doing so, your nails will
be healthy and less likely to turn yellow in the future.
